RPCC's Cisco Academy to Begin

River Parishes Community College (RPCC) in Sorrento offers many innovative programs, and starting on Monday, February 13, RPCC can add another program to the list.  For the first time, RPCC will offer a Cisco Networking Specialist program.  The Cisco Networking Specialist program prepares students to sit for the Cisco Certified Network Associate Certification (CCNA) examination and to work in the Internet Technology (IT) field as a networking specialist.

Classes will be at the River Parishes Community College-Technical Education Center (RPCC-TEC) on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Dr. Lisa Watson, Vice-Chancellor for Institutional Advancement and Effectiveness at RPCC, looks forward to the opportunities this new program presents.  “This expansion of RPCC’s programming presents people with the opportunity to better prepare for employment in a wide range of industries” said Dr. Watson.  “This program prepares students for networking jobs over a variety of fields, including telecommunications, hospitals and banking.”

Chris Johnson, RPCC’s Cisco Instructor, has teaching experience with the Capital Area Technical College.  Chris enjoyed teaching and continued to do so as an adjunct volunteer while he worked in the private sector after earning his own CCNA certification.

If you would like more information on RPCC’s newest program, visit our open house at RPCC Technical Education Center in the Cisco Lab at 9697 Airline Highway in Sorrento on February 6 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Chris Johnson will be on hand to answer any questions and to discuss the benefits of being a Certified Cisco Network Associate.  Applications for the program will also be available at this time.

If you are unable to visit RPCC’s open house or you would like additional information, call the RPCC-TEC campus at (225) 675-5397.
