General Policy Statement
This policy provides a framework for management of the College’s website (www.rpcc.edu). The RPCC website is a primary means of communication between the College and its varied audiences, including, but not limited to, prospective students, current students, faculty, staff, alumni, business and industry partners, K-12 partners, and community partners. The website should convey RPCC’s brand, provide useful and up-to-date information, be easily navigable, and be accessible for a diverse audience, including individuals with visual or hearing impairments.
Management of Website
The College website is managed by the Office of the Chancellor, by the Marketing and Communications Manager. The Marketing and Communications Manager will lead a Web Team comprised of various college leaders to maintain the website, ensuring that content on the website is consistent with the college brand, is useful, provides the most currently available information, is easily navigable, and is accessible for a diverse population, including individuals with visual and hearing impairments. At a minimum, the following individuals shall serve on the Web Team: Marketing and Communications Manager (Chair), Chancellor, a representative from Student Services, a representative from Academic Affairs, a representative from Institutional Research/Effectiveness, a representative from the Foundation, a representative from the Workforce Division, a representative from Finance & Administration, the Director of Student Recruitment, and the Director of Teaching & Learning.
Quarterly Review of Website
No less than quarterly the Web Team, under the direction of the Marketing and Communications Manager, will review the website to ensure all content is consistent with the college brand, useful, up to date, easily navigable, and accessible for a diverse audience, including individuals with visual or hearing impairments.
Accessibility
In compliance with the Federal Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, River Parishes Community College is committed to ensuring accessibility to all persons accessing the electronic content contained on the College website. This shall apply to all content developed by, maintained by, or offered through third-party vendors under the control of River Parishes Community College. All content provided by River Parishes Community College on the College website through direct production or third-party provision shall comply with the standard of accessibility, ADA Title III requirements. The standard shall be WCAG 2.0 Level AA.
River Parishes Community College routinely monitors accessibility of the college website through a third-party vendor that scans the website for inaccessibility. The Marketing and Communications Manager is responsible for receiving reports from the third-party vendor and working with appropriate personnel to correct any areas of the website that are not compliant with WCAG 2.0 Level AA standards.
Complaints
Complaints or concerns regarding any content on the College website, including complaints or concerns regarding a violation of the ADA, Section 504, or Title II may express their concerns by submitting an email to [email protected]. The Marketing and Communications Manager is responsible for responding to all complaints and concerns, and for working with appropriate individuals to remedy any valid complaints or concerns.
Requests for Adding Information to or Changing Information on the Website Homepage
Requests for adding information to the homepage of the College website should be submitted to the Marketing and Communications Manager.
Security and Privacy
River Parishes Community College is committed to protecting the private information of its website visitors. Any personal information collected through the College’s website (www.rpcc.edu) or official RPCC third-party vendors is used solely for internal college purposes, such as responding to questions, sending information about the college, or gathering attendee information for a college event. The college may automatically collect non-personal information, such as IP addresses or geo-locations, to collect statistical information about the website and to better understand website users to improve college processes and outreach to prospective and current students and other users. River Parishes Community College does not sell or share personally identifiable information or confidential user information collected on the website with any third party, unless required to by law. River Parishes Community College uses software programs to monitor network traffic and identify attempts to change information on this website or otherwise cause damage to the site. This information is not reported or used in any manner that would reveal personally identifiable information, except as may be required to support authorized law enforcement investigations.
