River Parishes Community College (RPCC) has had a partnership with the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office (APSO) and the higher education system for many years now. RPCC is excited to announce that beginning Fall 2023, RPCC will offer a degree in criminal justice.
Ascension Parish Sheriff Bobby Webre is an alumni of RPCC as he was a student here in one of the early graduating classes.
“Our staff worked with the sheriff’s office to help develop the first-class program,” RPCC Chancellor Quintin Taylor said.
What can students expect? With this program, students can expect to gain the proper knowledge on how to investigate crimes, and eventually, RPCC will include a forensic science program in the future.
This new opportunity will open up a pipeline for the sheriff’s office, having recent grads explore employment opportunities.
This is not just for new students within the RPCC community. Sheriff Webre hopes his deputies and staff take advantage of the unique opportunity.
The program will begin in Fall 2023 and will offer multiple classes and opportunities that are flexible in times and schedules so adults have the opportunity for a good and affordable education.
