Gonzales, LA – River Parishes Community College (RPCC) is proud to announce that ten students from its Energy Sciences Division have been selected for the highly competitive Advanced Technology Technician Training (AT3) Program, sponsored by the National Science Foundation. This program, provided by CareersinTech.US, offers an 8-month, hands-on learning experience in the emerging fields of micro and nanotechnology, including industries such as semiconductors and clean energy.
Running from October 2024 to May 2025, the AT3 Program provides RPCC students with immersive technical training, industry insights, and hands-on applications in micro and nanotechnology. Participants will receive stipends of up to $3,000, and the program offers additional support for securing summer internships in STEM, technology, and energy fields. Students will also engage in weekly Zoom sessions with the Micro Nano Technology Education Center (MNT-EC), build out an MNTFolio e-portfolio, and complete three foundational modules using TAP3D virtual reality simulations. Additionally, students who opt for extra VR modules can earn an additional $500.
RPCC Dean of Energy Sciences Dr. Donovan Thompson highlighted that RPCC’s acceptance into this program is a testament to its commitment to developing a robust talent pipeline for the technical workforce, addressing critical skills gaps, and providing transformative opportunities in STEM for students in Louisiana.
"We are confident that this opportunity will not only benefit our selected students but also inspire our entire student body to pursue excellence in STEM, technology, and energy fields," said Dr. Thompson. "We look forward to seeing the incredible achievements that will emerge from this experience."
